The Polish chopper mine in Glogow is one of the largest facilities of its kind in Europe both in terms of volume of chopper, over 265 million tonnes and its depth, over 1300m. In 2018, the mine extracted over 196 thousand tonnes of copper, over 300 thousand tonnes of salt and over 428 thousand kg of silver. The peak period is expected between 2028 and 2035.
To ensure the safety and well-being of the miners and others present in the working space, having an efficient ventilation system in place is a must. Due to the design and build of the mine, having the ventilation system installed on the roof was not an option. Therefore, the system needed to be built linked to the side of the building.

Walraven was approached at an early stage of the project. Therefore, our technical team could work in close collaboration with the project office to create the design. Besides supporting with creating the technical design, Walraven also supplied the required drawings and calculations for the installation. As part of the technical solution, Walraven supplied various product system elements, with our Maxx heavy-rail system as the backbone. Maxx was selected not only due to the load of the installation but also to be able to facilitate the large variations in terms of temperature as well as to enable fast installation on site.
